Pickering 40-780-532 Dual Microwave Changeover Switch Module
The Pickering 40-780-532 is an advanced, dual-channel microwave switching module designed for use in both Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and signal routing applications. It incorporates two, completely separate SPDT (single-pole, double-throw) changeover relays that can operate at microwave frequencies up to 26.5 GHz and have a 50-ohm characteristic impedance. Additionally, it includes front panel SMA connectors for the user to connect their RF sources and loads to the module. In addition to providing a convenient way to interface your RF signals to the module, they are also very durable. The module has been specifically designed to be integrated into a PXI or LXI chassis, thus forming the base of a larger, scalable, modular switching system for use in high-frequency and/or high-power RF and microwave applications.
As one of Pickering's versatile and highly capable modules, the 40-780-532 is ideal for applications where you need to precisely route signals under automated control, for example, in aerospace, defense, telecommunications, and research & development. The high bandwidth of the module provides excellent RF performance; the module has less than 0.7 dB of insertion loss and greater than 55 dB of isolation, which helps to prevent signal degradation in complex test systems. The module's small size of 3U also allows for large numbers of switches to be installed in a very small space, allowing for more flexibility in the design of the test system. The module operates in approximately 10 milliseconds, allowing for increased throughput of the test system. The module also supports standard IVI and VISA interfaces, allowing the user to program the module using popular tools such as LabVIEW and MATLAB and also providing rapid deployment of the test system.
Engineering personnel use the Pickering 40-780-532 to create flexible tree network and multiplexer designs to test components, simulate sensors, and characterize multiport devices. The module uses a highly reliable solid-state relay design that will operate over a million times before failing. Thus, the module is well suited for the high cycle count test floors found in many manufacturing facilities. The module also supports the use of the Pickering Switch Path Manager software, which greatly simplifies the design of complex signal routing systems and reduces the time required to develop test sequences and increases the maintainability of the test system in industrial automation and ATE systems.
