Pickering 40-330-003 High Voltage Power Relay Module
Pickering’s 40-330-003 is a three-unit PXI module that contains twelve single-pole single-throw (SPST) electro-mechanical power relays that are suitable for high-voltage applications requiring precision in high-voltage switch operations. As a result of its ability to perform in both hot and cold switching conditions, this module is perfect for high-voltage applications such as isolation tests. For cold switching applications, this module can be used to achieve voltages up to 1000 DC volts or AC volts, which is a significant advantage when it comes to reliability. When considering hot switching, this module will support maximum voltages of 110 DC volts or 250 AC volts at a 5-ampere current rating while using RFI suppression circuitry that reduces electrical noise and surge risk.
In order to support high-density systems, the module uses a 37-pin high-voltage D-type connector on the front panel to connect to other modules within the system. The contacts used on the 40-330-003 are gold-plated silver alloys, which provide very low contact path resistances (typically less than 30 milliohms when closed) and excellent insulation between the relays when they are open. In addition to providing these characteristics, the module has one spare relay so that the user can replace a failed relay quickly, thereby minimizing downtime of the test system. A typical use of this module would be in automotive validation testing, in checking aerospace systems, and in testing power cells, all of which require precise and reliable high-voltage signal routing.
As a member of the Pickering family of PXI modules, the 40-330-003 is compatible with all standard 3U PXI and PXI express chassis, as well as Pickering's LXI modular chassis, and therefore allows the user to integrate the module into a wide variety of different system configurations. The 40-330-003 also includes full support for all of the common programming environments, such as LabVIEW, Python, and C++, as well as real-time operating systems and Windows and Linux. As a result of these capabilities, the 40-330-003 Relay Module is an excellent choice for those who are looking to create high-reliability, high-density test systems that utilize high-voltage switching.
