Keysight M9101A PXI High-Density Multiplexer
The Keysight M9101A PXI multiplexer module has 64 channels designed to route many inputs into one output for automated test equipment (ATE) and/or data acquisition (DAQ). Each channel uses two-wire switches with long-life reed relays that provide the capability to measure differentially at a maximum voltage of 100 V rms and a maximum power of 10 W. The switch will also allow for a carry current of 1 A but maintain a switching current of 0.5 A; this allows for low-level analog signals as well as moderate levels of power.
A multiplexer is used to connect a number of input channels together to create a single common point, typically to read from a sensor, transducer, or test point to use one measurement instrument. The Keysight M9101A multiplexer has an internal isolation switch that eliminates the load of capacitance and the loss of signal due to leakage current that occurs when the user expands their system by connecting the commons of multiple modules. The Keysight multiplexer can be operated in either break-before-make mode to avoid cross-connection or to open multiple channels at the same time, allowing for versatile testing options. When operating in production test mode, the reed relay-based multiplexers are capable of closing and opening at speeds of approximately 500 microseconds, providing the capability for fast sequential scanning.
For connections between the module and the device being tested, Keysight utilizes a ruggedized 200-pin Low Force High Contact (LFH) connector. This style of connector is advantageous because it allows for easier cabling in crowded installations and does not limit the bandwidth to less than 5 MHz. Additionally, the Keysight M9101A PXI Multiplexer Module is compatible with all types of PXI chassis, including cPCI, PXI-1, and PXIe hybrid slots. To assist users with writing software to interface with the module, Keysight provides both IVI-compliant drivers and example application code written for LabVIEW, MATLAB, C/C++/C#, Visual BASIC, etc., to shorten development time. Users also have the ability to manually control and debug each channel via soft front panels without having to write additional programming.
