Keysight/Agilent B1500A Semiconductor Device Analyzer
The Keysight B1500A is an advanced semiconductor device analyzer designed for the analysis of direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) parametric measurements, thus offering an all-in-one complete solution for characterization and analytical measurements. The device is equipped with a voltage/current source and measuring capabilities combined with impedance analysis and is thus equipped with high-accuracy current-voltage (I-V) and capacitance-voltage (C-V) sweep ability. The system features a graphical user interface with a touchscreen LCD display, a keyboard, and a mouse for easy operation and data presentation on Windows.
The B1500A comes with the integrated ground unit (GNDU) and has ten modular expansion slots for the installation of plug-in units like the High-Resolution Source/Monitor Units (HRSMU), High-Power Source Measurement Units (HPSMU), Medium-Current Source Measurement Units (MCSMU), and Multi-Frequency Capacitance Measurement Units (MFCMU). These units allow the measurement of currents in the atto-range, high voltage pulsing, and ultra-high-speed transient characterization. Additionally, the system is supported by the E5288A Atto Sense and Switch Unit (ASU), with the aim of increasing sensitivity, as well as the N1301A-100 SCUU, with automatic switching for IV/CV measurements.
Keysight EasyEXPERT software provides a user-friendly measuring interface with four operating modes: Application Test for device-specific measurements, Classic Test for parametric testing of the norm, Tracer Test for tracing of the curve, and Quick Test for automation of the sequence. The software provides features like real-time graphical display, marker analysis, and exportability of data into wide-ranging formats (CSV, XML, BMP).
The B1500A is suitable for the characterization of the device like CMOS, BJT, memory cell, and nanodevices. The pulsed measurements feature along with the high sampling rate of the instrument makes it suitable for reliability testing like NBTI/PBTI, and hot injection of the carrier. The analyzer also supports remote operation and interface with automatic test systems, for the R&D and manufacturing community, with the GPIB and the LAN interface. Engineered for precision, the B1500A is run in stringent conditions (23 ±5°C, 20–60% humidity) with built-in self-calibration for upholding the integrity of the measurements.
