NHR 9430-8 Regenerative 4-Quadrant AC Load

NH Research's 9430-8 Regenerative 4-Quadrant AC Load is a high-performance, current-regulated AC load intended to replicate a range of actual electrical loads. It has an innovative waveform digitizing measurement technology with adjustable phase inputs and outputs. By operating in all four quadrants, this load greatly improves energy efficiency by having the ability to regenerate and return power to the grid in addition to consuming it. Applications include testing power supply components like circuit breakers and fuses, as well as circuit protection devices including rectifiers, inverters, AC sources, and UPS systems.

This module is programmable for both AC and DC loading. With an input voltage range of 10 to 175V and 350V RMS L-N, and a frequency range of 30Hz to 880Hz, it supports both single-phase and split-phase setups for AC. It can support loads of up to 60A at a maximum apparent power of 21kVA. It can handle DC input voltages between 10 and 400VDC and has a current limit range of 0 to 60A along with power limitations of up to 8kW.

Its four-quadrant operation, which allows for bi-directional power flow to mimic reactive power circumstances in the actual world, is a noteworthy feature. When simulating the reverse current present in capacitive or inductive loads, this capability comes in handy. With reactive power (VARs) up to 2.6 times the actual power, NH Research's HiVAR® design further enables the device to manage high reactive power loads without degrading the genuine power.

Along with a Constant RL mode that simulates resistive loads with an inductive component, the NHR 9430-8 supports a number of emulation modes, such as Constant Current, Constant Resistance, Constant Power, and Constant Apparent Power. An integrated graphical editor can be used to build user-defined waveforms, which enables accurate simulation of non-linear waveforms, transients, and anomalies. The ability to generate and save macros—sequences of parameters for testing under complicated conditions—is another essential feature. Furthermore, more than 90% of the load power is fed back into the facility's power grid, which lowers energy expenses and minimizes the requirement for air cooling.
