Phoenix Contact QUINT-UPS Uninterruptible Power Supply
Phoenix Contact QUINT-UPS is an essential part of industrial reliability in terms of uninterrupted DC power. The QUINT-UPS is an electronic switch that will automatically transition all connected equipment to backup (battery) power upon failure of the primary 24V DC input. The power supply is designed specifically for use in 24V DC systems with a maximum 10-ampere output. In addition to providing the ability to instantly switch from AC power to DC battery power in case of a loss of AC power, the unit has advanced battery management capabilities allowing it to track the charge level of the battery, predict how much longer the battery will continue to operate, and monitor the health of the battery. By monitoring the battery's health and predicting how much longer the battery will last, it helps avoid unexpected shutdowns of an automation or control application due to a low battery condition.
Also, the power supply unit includes additional features such as a static power reserve that will provide a temporary boost to the power being supplied during times of increased loading and a dynamic fuse breaking feature that will allow for protection of connected loads from excessive inrush current. Additionally, users have the option of configuring how the power supply unit will operate via the company's proprietary software package, which allows for the specification of desired backup duration, as well as custom alarm parameters to enable customized performance from the unit. Once installed, the unit will automatically recognize the type of Phoenix Contact battery that is connected to it (either VRLA or lithium ion) and apply the correct charging algorithm based on the temperature of the battery to ensure optimal longevity of the battery and keep it ready to provide backup power at all times.
The QUINT-UPS is designed to mount directly onto a standard DIN rail inside a control cabinet, making it ideal for providing backup power to devices such as programmable logic controllers, industrial computers, and communication modules. One benefit of this product is the ability to add additional backup power capacity by simply adding additional batteries in parallel to the existing unit. Another benefit of the QUINT-UPS is the redundancy capability of the unit. Multiple units can be connected together in a redundant configuration, which creates a very reliable power solution for those who cannot afford a single point of failure in their process, resulting in minimized risk of unplanned downtime and reduced risk of damage to assets and/or personnel.
