Basler A311f Industrial Camera
Basler's A311f is a progressive-scan CCD camera that has been engineered for industrial machine vision applications. As a monochrome camera, this unit employs a 1/2-inch Sony ICX414AL sensor, producing a resolution of 659 x 494 pixels. At its full resolution (659x494), this camera can produce a high frame rate of 73 frames/sec, allowing for the inspection of rapid moving process sequences. The camera incorporates a standard IEEE-1394a FireWire interface for simple data transmission and system integration, eliminating the need for a frame grabber. The compact and rugged design of the C-mount housing (42mm x 62mm x 62mm) allows for easy mounting into confined spaces.
Designed for a variety of demanding applications in many industries, including semiconductor and electronic component inspection, manufacturing quality control, and food and beverage product inspection, this camera's capabilities also include microscopy and medical imaging. Several key features will increase the application flexibility of the camera, such as programmable areas of interest for scanning smaller regions of the image and a long-exposure capability of up to five seconds to allow for the acquisition of sharp images under low-light conditions. Additionally, the camera will support 12-bit image digitization for a large dynamic range to differentiate between subtle grayscale variations and detailed image information.
The Basler A311f includes several sophisticated features for precise control over image capture. The camera provides a patent-pending Trigger Ready signal to optimize the timing for when the first pixel can start an exposure to maximize the number of frames/sec that the camera can operate at while still preventing the loss of images. The camera synchronization can be controlled through an external trigger, the 1394 bus, or the free-run mode. The camera is supported by Basler's BCAM driver and SDK package, which will provide a robust, plug-and-play operation and easy to use API's for developing applications using programming environments such as Visual Studio. The integration of the camera into other systems will be further simplified through third party software libraries that are compliant with the DCAM standard.
