Keysight/Agilent M9048B PCIe Host Adapter
The Keysight M9048B PCIe Host Adapter is a single-port, dedicated connection card that mounts directly into a desktop or rackmount computer's PCIe slot. Through this, it establishes a direct Gen 3 x8 cable link to an external AXIe or PXIe chassis. Previously found under the manufacturer Agilent, this single-port adapter can be utilized by industrial automation and test system developers who require lower latency and higher throughput data transfers between a remote controller and modular instrumentation. This adapter has a small footprint (5.62 inches wide x 5.54 inches deep). As such, it will fit into most computer enclosures. There are two types of brackets included with this adapter; one is a low-profile bracket and the other is a standard PCI bracket. These brackets provide flexibility when mounting the adapter within different enclosures.
Built in to the M9048B is a PCIe switch that works in conjunction with clock isolation to provide a clean and stable clock signal on the cable. This provides a constant Gen 3 link for the length of the cable regardless of the amount of electrical noise present inside the host PC's motherboard or timing variances. The Adapter will connect to an AXIe or PXIe backplane by means of a single X8 iPass connector and uses passive Keysight Y1202A or Y1203A cables that can be as long as 2 m. In addition to providing high performance, it also provides low power consumption. The device draws only 9W of power (at 12V it consumes .68 A; at 3.3V it consumes .33 A). It operates reliably from 0° to +55°C. Due to the fact no software drivers are needed, this makes it easy to integrate into your application.
Within industrial automation environments, the M9048B is commonly utilized to provide communication connectivity between a central computing server and multiple PXIe or AXIe chassis containing high-speed digitizers, vector network analyzers, or programmable power supplies. This configuration supports ATE (Automated Test Equipment) configurations, real-time control loops, and data acquisition systems, which depend upon sustained Gen 3 throughput from the remote controller and do not rely on the quality of the PCIe connections made internally to the host computer. To simplify integration into existing racks supporting ATE configurations and real-time control loop configurations, the Keysight/Agilent M9048B PCIe Host Adapter is compatible with x8 or x16 slots operating at Gen 2 or Gen 3 speeds.
