Keithley 7002 Switch System
The Keithley 7002 is a high-density Switch System for test and measurement applications on an automated basis. The system accommodates a maximum of 400 channels or matrix crosspoints within a single mainframe via 10 plug-in switch cards. The system is designed to work with several switching cards, such as the Models 7001, 7002, 705, and 706 switching cards, and hence provides flexibility in system configuration. The analog backplane allows for internal interconnection between rows or banks of Model 701X series cards installed in a different slot, allowing matrix and multiplexer expansion within a single mainframe.
The 7002 Switch System can be used to carry out simple open or close channel operations, or to scan through a pre-programmed list of channels. It has a real-time LED display that tracks the status of all the available channels, giving instant visual feedback.
It has battery-backed memory that will store 500 channel patterns and 10 user-programmable instrument configurations for quick recall. It provides IEEE-488 bus operation, meeting IEEE-488.2 and SCPI standards, and features flexible triggering capabilities, such as external TTL-compatible triggers, IEEE-488 bus triggers, Trigger Link, and an internal programmable timer.
The switching sequence of the system is programmable break-before-make for secure operation. The system has a channel-ready TTL-compatible signal output, which signifies when relay settling has occurred. The mainframe features digital I/O with open collector outputs and a TTL-compatible input for better integration with other test equipment. The 7002 features a maximum relay drive of 3.5A for all 10 card slots, providing high performance.
The analog backplane supports four 3-pole rows (Hi, Lo, Guard) with a maximum voltage of 250V DC or RMS and peak current of 1A. It provides high path isolation and low crosstalk with bandwidth up to 30MHz and less than 3dB loss. The system scan list speed depends on the break-before-make setting and can be as high as 300 channels or memory locations per second. 7002 has a double-line vacuum fluorescent display and, optionally, an interactive programming light pen. Rear-panel connectors include IEEE-488, Trigger Link, external trigger BNC, and channel-ready BNC. Power is 100V to 240V RMS, 50/60Hz, and meets EMC, safety, and environmental standards.
