Keysight/Agilent DAQM903A Actuator / GP Switch Module for DAQ970A and DAQ973A
The Keysight DAQM903A is a switch module intended specifically for use as an actuator module and/or general-purpose switching module with either of the Keysight data acquisition systems, DAQ970A and DAQ973A. The module contains 20 Single-Pole Double-Throw (SPDT) latching relays that can be switched independently by the system. Each relay is rated for 300 volts DC/AC and 1 ampere continuous current, providing up to 50 watts of power to be switched.
In contrast to typical SPDT relays, the latching relay will maintain its contact position regardless of whether or not coil current is applied to the relay. As a result, heat generation from the relay due to coil current will be minimized, and power demand on the mainframe will also be reduced. The module has been engineered to allow for switching rates of 120 channels per second. With this fast-switching capability, industrial automation engineers are able to rapidly sequence control in automated test environments utilizing the DAQM903A.
Engineers utilizing industrial automation methods may utilize the DAQM903A module to cycle power to devices being tested, activate status indication lights, or activate external power relays or solenoid valves. The DAQM903A module's 300-volt and 1-amp rating enables it to be utilized for numerous types of line switching applications; i.e., turning AC or DC loads on/off during reliability testing or product validation testing. The Form C relay configuration employed by the DAQM903A includes two separate paths: one path is normally open and the other is normally closed per channel. Therefore, designers can implement fail-safe control logic based upon the channel path selected. Since the DAQM903A module operates as an actuator instead of a measurement device, it is best suited for applications requiring high-voltage switching and does not require a high degree of measurement accuracy.
When building a large number of complex switch architectures, the DAQM903A can be combined with DAQ970A or DAQ973A multiplexing/matrix modules located in the same mainframe. Engineers can therefore develop a wide range of customized switch systems based upon specific test requirements. A common combination of modules would be to mix the DAQM903A actuator module with various measurement modules to first route signals and then activate device power. It should be noted that there are no onboard signal conditioning circuits included in the DAQM903A module. The primary intent of this module is to perform switching functions. Due to its unique architecture, the DAQM903A is compatible only with the DAQ970A and DAQ973A data acquisition platforms.
