Keysight/Agilent 34908A Single-Ended Multiplexer Module for 34970A/34972A
The Keysight/Agilent 34908A is a 40-channel multiplexing module with a low-side (common) switched architecture, intended as part of Keysight's 34970A and 34972A data acquisition/switch units. These modules are well-suited for applications that require many common low measurements. A common-low measurement is defined as those that have a common reference point shared by both the input and output signal. Examples include battery test systems, component characterizations, and laboratory benchtop equipment. Each 34908A module has 40 one-wire inputs and will handle all two-wire internal measurements except current. Thus, the modules provide a flexible tool for most data-acquisition applications. The module's low-side connection is electrically isolated from the earth plane and may be floated up to +300VDC. This isolation provides protection and flexibility in applications where there exists a large difference between the "low" of the measured signal and earth potential.
Applications using the 34908A benefit from their ability to fit a high number of channels into a small space. In battery test systems, they allow simultaneous monitoring of numerous cell voltages. When used in component characterization, they allow rapid parametric testing of resistors, capacitors, diodes, etc. The Multiplexer Module also contains a built-in thermocouple reference junction, allowing users to eliminate the use of external references for thermocouple temperature measurements. The scanning rate of each module is 60 channels/second. This allows for automated testing sequences that quickly route and acquire signals, increasing throughput on production tests and quality control operations.
Designed to integrate with Keysight's 34970A and 34972 For mainframes, the 34908A modules transform them into versatile switching systems capable of meeting demanding measurement requirements. Because the module's low-side connection is electrically isolated from earth ground, it can accommodate measurements whose common reference is not at earth potential. Applications such as automotive and industrial require this type of measurement capability.
