Keysight/Agilent 34951A 4-Channel D/A Converter with Waveform Memory for 34980A
The 34951A from Keysight/Agilent provides 4 isolated channels (electronic calibration) to the Keysight 34980A multi-function switch/measure unit. Each channel is capable of sourcing DC voltage from -16 V to +16 V and/or current up to ±20 mA with 16-bit resolution. All individual channels update at 200kHz. The galvanically isolated output allows you to stack them in series to achieve a total of ±64 V per module. The 34951A D/A converter is ideal for those industrial automation and lab environments where exact bias voltages, programmable power supply control, or reliable set point signals are used in regulatory loop applications.
In addition to providing steady-state DC output, the 34951A has Waveform Memory capable of storing over 500,000 data points. Users may allocate memory dynamically across one or multiple channels to create user-defined arbitrary waveforms. The users have the option of selecting from pre-defined shapes or defining their own custom sequence of events. The D/A Converter will then output the saved points in sequential order at a rate of 200 kHz in point-to-point arb mode. Due to the design flexibility of this memory architecture, the 34951A may store up to 32 discrete waveforms simultaneously, making it suitable as a stimulus source for device characterization, sensor emulation, and automated functional testing where dynamic signal characteristics are required.
For applications requiring very high-accuracy voltage sources, the Keysight/Agilent D/A Converter includes a remote sensing capability on every channel. Remote sensing eliminates errors caused by the resistance in the lead wires between the measurement point and the DAQ board's output. Remote sensing can compensate for drops up to 0.5 volts in the output leads if the sense lead does not exceed 2.5 ohms. The 34951A can resolve down to 500 microvolts over its entire range of ±16 volts; thus, when using the converter, you know that your programmed voltage will be accurately applied directly to the load. The use of standard 50-pin D-sub connectors makes connecting cables to your DAQ system simple. Terminal block connector styles such as those offered with the Keysight 34951T and mass interconnect solutions make cable connections even simpler.
