Keysight/Agilent E5810A LAN/GPIB Gateway
The Keysight/Agilent E5810A LAN/GPIB Gateway is a multi-function gateway that provides remote access and control of GPIB instruments via a Local Area Network (LAN). The gateway makes GPIB and RS-232 instruments easily integrate into networked systems and is hence ideal for shared test systems and remote collaboration. The E5810A features automatic network setup via DHCP, making setup easier because it automatically sets the required network parameters, including the IP address. Users can also view and control instruments connected from distant locations worldwide through a web browser, allowing for flexibility and efficiency in test setups.
The E5810A has a digital display and LEDs for simple local troubleshooting and verification of the IP address. Users can interactively send commands to attached GPIB and RS-232 instruments and read measurement results in real time by typing the IP address shown on the unit into a web browser. For more complex programming, the gateway supports the latest release of the IO Libraries Suite (version 14.2) with all the usual development tools. This allows users an easy way to create and execute their own test scripts and applications.
In system setups, the E5810A is rack-mounted using the rack mount kit (Option 100), which supports two units’ side by side in one rack unit. The onboard power supply eliminates the need for an external power module and simplifies installation. The gateway will support up to 14 GPIB devices in a daisy-chain configuration and one RS-232 device with the potential to support as many as 16 simultaneous I/O connections. It supports fast data transfer rates with the GPIB port supporting speeds greater than 900 KB/s and the RS-232 port being able to handle baud rates up to 115,200 b/s. The E5810A is built to withstand stringent industrial standards, such as IEC 61326-1 for electromagnetic compatibility and IEC 61010-1 for safety. The small size of the instrument (211 mm wide x 230 mm deep x 41 mm high) and its light weight (1.6 kg) make it an excellent match for a wide range of operating environments, from 0°C to 55°C and up to 90% humidity at 40°C non-condensing. This gateway is a handy interface for engineers and technicians who want to increase the connectivity and control of their GPIB and RS-232 instruments both locally and remotely.
