Keysight/Agilent 81633A Optical Power Sensor Module
The Agilent 81633A is an Optical Power Sensor Module built for optical test systems. It may also be found associated with the manufacturers of Keysight or HP. The model installs as a front loading plug-in sensor inside a compatible Agilent mainframe. This module measures optical power across a wide wavelength span with a broad dynamic range. The module covers a wavelength range of 800 nm to 1700 nm during measurement. Its power range extends from +10 dBm down to -90 dBm for each reading. This span gives the module a full 100 dB optical dynamic measurement window.
The measurement uncertainty on the sensor module stays better than ± 2.5 percent under reference conditions. This accuracy specification applies across the 1000 nm to 1630 nm wavelength band on the model. The polarization related uncertainty within the sensor module measurement remains under ± 0.005 dB during normal operation. The spectral ripple uncertainty on the module is likewise held under ± 0.005 dB across the band. The typical spectral ripple performance measured reaches as low as ± 0.002 dB.
The Agilent 81633A Optical Power Sensor Module delivers power linearity across + 10 dBm to - 70 dBm at 23 °C plus or minus 5 °C. This linearity performance measures better than ± 0.015 dB plus or minus 2 pW. The linearity drift on the sensor module stays under ± 0.05 dB plus or minus 2 pW across the wider range. The 81633A sensor module accepts standard single mode and multimode fiber through its optical input port. The supported fiber core size on the model reaches up to 100 µm in diameter. The numerical aperture for fiber used with the module must remain at or below 0.3. The optical connector interface on follows a PC type connector design standard. This interface uses interchangeable Agilent 81000xI-series connectors which are ordered separately from the module.
Mechanically, the module measures 75 mm by 32 mm by 335 mm as a standalone unit. The module weighs approximately 0.5 kg with a packaged ship weight near 2 lbs. Its front loading plug-in form factor allows the 81633A to fit an 816xA or 816xB mainframe slot. Its enclosure consists of a durable metal module housing built for mechanical protection. This housing includes a recessed optical input interface to guard the connector against damage.
