Spirent GSS6100 GPS/SBAS Simulator

The Spirent GSS6100 GPS/SBAS Simulator is a precision-engineered, single-channel L1 C/A code GPS simulator designed to meet the demanding needs of today's comprehensive testing and evaluation of GPS/SBAS receivers. It supports WAAS, EGNOS, and MSAS Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems, which increase the precision and reliability of GPS via geosynchronous satellites. The GSS6100 provides for high-strength performance assessments, design validation, production tests, and in-depth statistical data analysis, materializing an indispensable tool for receiver integrity and function verification.

With its engineering for both manufacturing and high-volume testing in mind, the GSS6100 integrates well into automated test environments. It can be operated either through an easy-to-use GUI or by using Spirent's own remote command interface with IEEE488, USB, or RS232 connections. The GUI interface of the unit is powered by SimCHAN software that ensures user-friendly control while remote operation provides for effective integration into test systems. Both modes provide the same capability for operation, thus enabling users accustomed to earlier models such as the GSS4100 and GSS4700 to transition without great inconvenience.

This technical versatility of the model also includes a number of features tailored to make the system both precise and easy to operate. The GSS6100 offers complete configurability—from power levels to Doppler shifts, GPS time, and PRN codes—to simulate every possible operational environment. It can also be set into an "instant start" mode, where the user can deploy the instrument with a predefined setting to make the test cycles as short as possible, thus achieving consistent, controlled results. The unit has a rack-mount 2U chassis design, which allows in-rack annual calibration, streamlines setup, and is thus very critical to minimize production downtime and disruption.

From the compatibility perspective, the GSS6100 supports all functionalities of Spirent's GSS4100 but extends capabilities with continuous parameter generation in a standard 19-inch rack mount format. Spirent is committed to providing high-quality, reliable performance on this instrument with the view to maintaining signal integrity with accuracy. In quality assurance, the simulator facilitates controlled testing, ensuring each manufactured device meets strict performance criteria, especially on parameters such as C/No.
