Keysight/Agilent 89605B RF Input and Calibration Module
The Agilent 89605B is an RF Input and Calibration Module built for VXI based vector signal analyzers. It may also be found paired with manufacturer Keysight. The model does not operate as a standalone instrument. It functions as a hardware building block within the Agilent 89600 Series Vector Signal Analyzer family. This family includes the 89610, 89611, 89640 and 89641 analyzer models.The module sits ahead of the E1439 digitizer within the signal chain. It provides the RF input path along with a built-in calibration source. The built-in calibration source supports internal signal verification within the analyzer. The model feeds a 70 MHz IF signal or a baseband signal into the ADC. A 10 MHz reference is distributed through the system by this module.
The calibration module is constructed as a single slot C-size VXI module. It follows the VXIbus mechanical standard for module construction and mounting. The module fits the E8408A 4-slot VXI mainframe without modification. It also fits the E1421B 6-slot and E8403A 13-slot VXI mainframes. The baseband frequency range of the model spans DC to 39 MHz. Its internal attenuator covers 0 to 50 dB in 5 dB steps. The module operates from an internal reference of either 10 MHz or 13 MHz. These capabilities support accurate RF signal conditioning within the analyzer system.
The Agilent 89605B RF Input and Calibration Module provides an external trigger input through a BNC connector. This trigger input carries an impedance rating of 1 kΩ. An external frequency reference output on the module delivers 10 MHz at above 3 dBm. The external frequency reference input accepts 10 MHz or 13 MHz signals. This reference input requires a signal level above 0 dBm within ± 5 ppm tolerance. These external reference ports allow synchronization with other VXI instruments in the system.
The 89605B calibration module connects to its controlling PC through an IEEE 1394 FireWire interface. This interface handles data transfer between the module and the host computer. The FireWire link supports the throughput required for vector signal analysis measurements. At 47 to 440 Hz operation, the module requires a line voltage between 90 and 140 Vrms. At 47 to 66 Hz operation, this range extends to between 90 and 264 Vrms.
