Keysight/Agilent E1324A RS-232C/422 Terminal Interface for VXI Command Modules
The E1324A Terminal Interface from Keysight/Agilent is designed for VXI Command Modules and operates through a single register based A-size architecture. The device occupies 1 VXI slot using the P1 connector. The module supports one serial communication channel for controlled command transfers between connected VXI instrumentation components. The dedicated RS-232C and isolated RS-422 interfaces maintain reliable communication integrity. The module provides 8 KB input buffering for continuous command reception. It also gives 8 KB output buffering for uninterrupted transmission handling during extended operational sequences. The supported baud rates include 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 and 19200 for adaptable serial integration requirements. The selectable data lengths include 7-bit and 8-bit configurations supporting multiple command communication implementations across systems.
The parity configurations include None, Odd, Even Always 1 and Always 0 for controlled transmission verification procedures. The selectable stop bit configurations include 1 and 2 enabling compatibility with several serial communication standards. The software handshaking operates through Xon/Xoff protocols maintaining organized data exchange during sustained communication operations. Hardware handshaking supports DTR and RTS input pacing with DSR and CTS output pacing functionality. The maximum transmission distance for the RS-232 interface under standard communication operating conditions is 50 feet. The communication distance of the isolated RS-422 interface can be up to 4000 feet at a transmission rate of 19200 baud. It withstands 42 V maximum protection supporting dependable communication across electrically industrial installations. The E1324A Terminal Interface is a register-based VXI device architecture. The module is kept at an A-size and allows for compatibility with larger sized B-size and C-size command modules.
The unit functions with I-SCPI Win 3.1 and is not supported when using legacy software in this serial communication module configuration. It is also important to note that I-SCPI Series 700 compatibility remains unsupported, with the focus being on dedicated command transmission operations. The unit draws a current of 0.15 A from the +5 V power supply connector. The +5 V IDM current requirement is 0.02 A for controlled low power characteristics. The IPM current for the +12 V supply connection is 0.2 A under normal communication processing state. The +12 V IDM current specification is 0.01 A which is stable over the life cycles.
