Keysight/Agilent E1333A 3-Channel Universal Counter
The Keysight E1333A is a 3-channel universal counter for precision frequency and timing measurements in industrial test applications. The counter can track operator-defined events up to a maximum capacity of 2^32 counts or 4.3 billion. The model occupies a single slot and communicates through an A16 interface as a VXIbus module. The power consumption of the model is rated at 5.0 watts per slot with a 0.42 liter per second cooling requirement.
Channels 1 and 2 of the countermeasure frequencies from 100 Hz to 100 MHz with AC coupling. These channels are extended in the DC-coupled mode up to 100 MHz. The range of channel 3 is 75 MHz to 1 GHz and has a hardware prescale factor of 64. The time interval and ratio measurements on the counter are only used with the channel 1 and channel 2 pair. The mode of measurement of the time interval is 200 nanoseconds. The number of averaged intervals and edge selection are both software-programmable.
The E1333A 3-channel universal counter incorporates a 10 MHz internal time base with an initial accuracy of 2 ppm. The aging rate of the internal time base is rated at 2 ppm per year of continuous operation. The temperature drift is specified at 5 ppm over the operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C.
Channels 1 and 2 of the universal counter provide programmable AC or DC coupling with selectable input impedance options. The input impedance is configurable as 1 MΩ shunted by 50 pF or as a direct 50 Ω termination. A programmable low-pass filter with a 3 dB cutoff at 100 kHz supports signal conditioning. The input attenuation is switchable between x1 and x10 to accommodate signal amplitudes across both input ranges. The universal counter requires + 5 V and ± 12 V supply rails within the host VXIbus chassis. The peak module current draw is 0.50 A at +5 V and 0.15 A at both the +12 V and –12 V rails.
