Keysight/Agilent E1356A 8-Channel Strain Relay Multiplexer
The E1356A from Keysight/Agilent is an 8 channel 350 Ω strain relay multiplexer designed for VXI based automated test systems. It is configured as a register based VXI module compatible with standard VXI mainframe chassis. For up to eight separate measurement channels, the model has specialized circuitry for bridge completion and excitation voltage. This module provides comprehensive strain gauge measuring when used with compatible HP and Keysight digital multimeters.
Six SCPI-programmable strain measurement setups are supported by the strain relay multiplexer for a variety of testing uses. Quarter, Bending Half, Poisson Half, Bending Full, Poisson Full, and Bending Poisson Full are among the supported kinds. Every measurement type connects the model to a particular strain gage bridge configuration on the test apparatus. The module can be used in a variety of structural analysis and mechanical testing scenarios due to its wide range of supported configurations.
The E1356A incorporates six onboard diagnostic functions to verify signal integrity and confirm channel measurement accuracy. The diagnostics cover Tension Shunt, Compression Shunt, Leadwire Resistance, Internal Half Bridge Voltage, Guard Voltage and Bridge Excitation Voltage. These functions enable technicians to isolate channel faults and confirm sensor connections without requiring external measurement instruments. The relay switching in the model is implemented using reed relays in a break before make contact configuration. Both power up and power down states default to open relay positions to protect connected sensors and measurement circuits. The minimum relay life of the multiplexer is rated at 108 operations under no load conditions and 107 operations under rated load. The module supports a typical scanning rate of 600 channels per second for high throughput measurement sequences.
The strain gage excitation voltage in the Keysight/Agilent Strain Relay Multiplexer is limited to a rated maximum of 5.4 V. The maximum DC input is 120 Vdc measured from any terminal to any other terminal or chassis. The AC rms input is rated at 120 V rms with a maximum current of 50 mA per channel common. The power per channel is capped at 1 VA to maintain safe and stable operation at all times.
