Keysight/Agilent E1370A Microwave Switch/Step Attenuator Driver
The Keysight/Agilent E1370A is a Microwave Switch/Step Attenuator Driver built for industrial automation and test environments. It is architecturally identical to the E1369A but features a redesigned module panel and mounting configuration. The modified mounting holes allow the user to install one single pole multi throw switch or step attenuator. The model occupies two B size slots within a standard VXI mainframe to accommodate its hardware footprint.
The driver contains integrated control, drive and power circuitry for mounting and controlling microwave switches or attenuators. A built in 14 pin DIP socket allows connection of one switch or attenuator on the module or remotely. The model supports mounting up to a single pole six throw switch directly onto the assembly structure. The same switch can also be operated externally using the 14 pin connector for remote test configurations. The drive level voltage for the E1370A Microwave Switch/Step Attenuator Driver can be supplied internally at + 5 Vdc and + 12 Vdc voltage levels. The external drive voltage is also supported with a maximum rating of 42 Vpk at the EXT POWER terminal. When operating with external switch power, the F3 fuse must be removed prior to use. This dual source voltage capability accommodates a broad range of switch and step attenuator power requirements.
The attenuator driver draws a peak module current of 0.01 A and consumes 0.50 watts per slot during operation. The cooling is specified at 0.08 mm H2O at an airflow rate of 0.05 liters per second per slot. The control circuit is designed to accommodate a maximum current rating of 1 amp per switch. The effective maximum current also depends on the output capacity of the mainframe or power supply used. The E1370A module is rated for continuous operation across a temperature range of 0 °C to + 55 °C. The humidity tolerance is specified at 65 % relative humidity within an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to 40 °C. The storage temperatures for the driver span a wider range from – 40 °C to + 75 °C safely.
