Keysight/Agilent E1446A Summing Amplifier/DAC
The E1446A from Keysight (formerly from Agilent) is a Summing Amplifier and DAC module designed for VXI based industrial test systems. It is a C size single slot, register based VXI module built specifically for precision industrial test automation environments. It accepts two independent input signals and delivers a boosted combined output to the load. It supports both single ended and differential output configurations for versatile deployment across automated test setups. Each of the two input channels supports selectable impedance values of 50 Ω, 75 Ω or 1 MΩ with 20 pF. The independent pre amplifier attenuators on both channels deliver 31 dB of level control in 1 dB steps. This allows precise independent level adjustment for each signal before it reaches the summing node. The input architecture maintains signal integrity across the full 31 dB attenuation range on both channels.
The Summing Amplifier/DAC delivers a maximum output of 40 Vp-p. The single ended power output achieves a maximum voltage gain of 10 into a 50 Ω resistive load. A switchable post attenuator on the power output channel offers either 0 dB or 20 dB of reduction. The differential output provides ± 1 V at unity gain and features both inverting and noninverting output terminals. The output impedance on the power channel is selectable at 50 Ω, 75 Ω or low impedance configuration. The differential output supports 50 Ω and 75 Ω output impedance settings for precise matched termination requirements. The DC accuracy is rated at ± 1 % of full scale ensuring reliable and consistent offset performance. The full power bandwidth reaches 10 MHz while the small signal bandwidth extends up to 15 MHz.
A precision 16 bit DAC integrated within the E1446A Summing Amplifier/DAC enables programmable DC offsets and output signal levels. The DAC accuracy is specified at 0.5 % of full scale plus 0.7 % of the programmed setting value. The module supports a maximum output current of 200 mA to drive high demand load conditions reliably. The module draws 0.4 A from the + 5 V rail and 0.36 A from the + 24 V supply.
