Keysight/Agilent E1451A 20 MHz Pattern I/O Module
The E1451A Pattern I/O Module from Keysight/Agilent is a high performance digital interface device designed for advanced pattern generation and acquisition applications. It provides 32 programmable I/O channels arranged across four independent 8-bit ports. The module is suitable for flexible digital test environment that demands accurate and reliable timing control and signal management. It features TTL and CMOS compatible channels for a wide range of system compatibility. Each channel can operate as either an input or output depending on application requirements. The E1451A supports 65,536 vectors of memory for storing large digital patterns. This 64 K vector memory will allow segmentable pattern for efficient management of test sequences. High memory capacity enables complex pattern execution without the need to re-load memory regularly during a validation process.
The unit supports output generation record and real time comparison functions on each port. Independent port operation supports testing flexibility for multiple digital signal groups. Real time comparison functions enable instant checking of patterns in real-time compared to programmed reference data. The support for channel synchronization is provided by hardware trigger and software trigger. Hardware triggering allows to create determinate timing relationships between different test equipment that connects to the target device. Additional flexibility in the operation of automated test environments and controlled execution sequences is provided by software triggering.
The module also offers standard channel skew of 3 ns between the pins of the same port. The skew characteristics are controlled for better timing uniformity in high speed digital measurements. The E1451A I/O Module supports a maximum pattern rate of 20 MHz when operated with an external clock source. The external clock interface accepts minimum pulse widths of 6 ns for accurate timing control. The output stage provides strong logic level performance under open circuit and loaded conditions. High level output voltage reaches a minimum of 4.4 V under open circuit operation. Low level output voltage remains at a maximum of 0.1 V under open circuit conditions. The Pattern I/O Module maintains a minimum high output voltage of 3.7 V when sourcing at 24 mA. The signal transition performance includes a typical rise time of 6.5 ns and fall time of 7.0 ns. Fast transition characteristics contribute to accurate pattern reproduction during high speed operation.
