Keysight/Agilent E1452A Terminating Pattern I/O Module
The E1452A from Keysight/Agilent is a 20 MHz Terminating Pattern I/O Module intended for precision digital test applications. It delivers 32 configurable I/O channels organized into four independent eight bit ports per module. Each port is statically programmable for output generation and data recording or real time pattern comparison. The model supports TTL/CMOS signal standards and operates at a maximum pattern rate of 20 M/s. The I/O module maintains a typical inter pin skew of 3 ns between I/O pins within the same port. The rise time is 6.5 ns and fall time is 7.0 ns typical under a 50 pf load. The minimum external clock pulse width is 6 ns enabling reliable synchronization with external test instruments. The model’s external tri state delay is 11 ns maximum with a pod and 14 ns maximum when operating without one.
The output levels on the Keysight/Agilent E1452A are precisely defined for accurate digital signal delivery. The high open circuit output reaches a minimum of 4.4 V and low open circuit output stays below 0.1 V. Under 24 mA sourcing conditions, the high output level is maintained at a minimum of 3.7 V. The low output level remains at a maximum of 0.44 V at 24 mA sinking conditions. The I/O Module offers 64 KB of deep memory per I/O port totaling 65,536 vectors of storage. This memory is segmentable and supports either a single large test or multiple independent test segments. The memory is not dual ported FIFO so generator and capture activity must be halted before reading or writing. This structure supports structured and repeatable test sequencing in demanding digital verification environments.
The E1452A draws 1.5 A on the + 5 V supply and 2.2 A on the − 5.2 V rail. An additional 0.6 A is required on the − 2 V rail under standard module power conditions. The module dissipates 22.00 watts per slot and requires an airflow of 2.00 liters per second. A pressure differential of 0.12 mm H?O maintains proper thermal performance within VXI based mainframes.
