Keysight/Agilent E1669B SONET/SDH 1550nm Optical I/F, TX/RX Module
The E1669B from Keysight/Agilent is a SONET/SDH optical interface module built for VXI-based industrial test systems. It can also be associated with the manufacturer HP. The model functions as a combined transmitter and receiver within a single module. It converts optical signals into electrical signals and electrical signals back into optical. The model supports a data rate range spanning from 52 Mb/s up to 2.488 Gb/s. It operates under both SONET and SDH transmission protocols within this same range.
The optical interface module transmits and receives light at a fixed 1550 nm optical wavelength. An optional 1310 nm optics configuration is available on the model through Option 001. The model uses a standard PC-type optical connector interface for its fiber connections. The model is built as a single slot C-size VXI module for mainframe installation. The module ships at an approximate weight of 5 lbs or 2.27 kg. The E1669B operates across a temperature range extending from 0 °C up to + 55 °C. the storage and non operating conditions for the model extend from – 40 °C up to + 70 °C. The users should let the module stabilize at room temperature before powering it on after storage. The operating relative humidity around the model may reach up to 85 to 95 % RH. Both operating and storage conditions require non condensing environments to protect the internal optical components of the module.
The TX/RX Module requires forced air cooling supplied by the host VXI mainframe chassis. The airflow per slot should typically remain at 5 to 10 CFM or higher. Insufficient airflow around the model may lead to overheating during extended operating periods. The model carries an operating altitude rating spanning from 0 up to 2000 meters. This range corresponds to approximately 0 up to 6600 feet above sea level. The operation above this altitude may require derating per standard VXIbus and HP practice guidelines. The Keysight/Agilent E1669B module also carries a Pollution Degree 2 rating suited for indoor laboratory environments. This rating follows standard HP and Agilent classification practice used for VXI mainframe based instrumentation and components. The users should install the module only within clean and controlled indoor lab settings.
