Agilent/HP E1672A SONET/SDH Transport Overhead Receiver
The E1672A is a SONET/SDH Transport Overhead Receiver manufactured by Agilent Technologies. It is also often associated with the manufacturers Keysight and HP (Hewlett-Packard). This module uses the VXI form factor for test instrumentation systems. VXI stands for VMEbus eXtensions for Instrumentation and defines the card architecture used here. The model is built as a C-size card occupying a single VXI slot position.
The receiver installs into HP 75000 Series 90 systems. It is specifically designed for use with the Broadband Series Test System family of chassis. Confirmed host mainframes for the model include the BSTS E4200 and E4210 models. The operators should always verify backplane compatibility before installing this module into other mainframe chassis. Inside a SONET or SDH frame the transport overhead carries framing and section bytes. These bytes include synchronization markers, section trace identifiers, and several line monitoring fields. The model extracts and continuously monitors these overhead bytes during live signal capture. This supports testing at the section and line level across SONET and SDH frames. As a receiver module, the model works alongside generator and analyzer cards in the same chassis.
The Agilent/HP E1672A operates across a temperature range of zero to fifty five degrees Celsius. The non operating storage temperature for the module extends from negative forty to seventy one degrees Celsius. The operating humidity should stay within a typical five to ninety five percent non condensing range.
The maximum operating altitude for the Transport Overhead Receiver is rated up to ten thousand feet. The non operating altitude rating during storage or transport extends up to forty thousand feet. The operating shock tolerance is rated near thirty g using an eleven millisecond half-sine pulse. The operating vibration tolerance is rated near two and a half g from five to three hundred hertz.
Exceeding these environmental or mechanical ratings may damage the E1672A module or affect measurement accuracy. The static sensitive components inside this VXI module require proper grounding during handling and installation. Always power down the host mainframe before inserting or removing the module. Many surviving units are used or untested so buyers should request functional verification before deployment.
