Keysight/Agilent E9850A VXI Pentium PC Controller
The E9850A from Keysight (formerly from the manufacturer Agilent) is a 2-slot message based VXI embedded PC controller for test environments. The model is built for embedded deployment across a range of VXI mainframe platforms. The PC controller measures 233.4 mm high by 340 mm deep and has a total weight of 2.5 kg. It occupies 2 VXI slots and must be installed within a compatible host mainframe chassis. The power consumption for the model is 9.0 A on the + 5 V rail and 70 mA on the + 12 V rail. The − 5.2 V rail draws 350 mA while the – 2 V draws 100 mA and the – 12 V draws 10 mA.
The controller is powered by an Intel Pentium II processor operating at a clock speed of 450 MHz. The controller uses Intel Slot 1 architecture which enables the processor to be upgraded directly in the field. The standard memory is 64 MB RAM that can be expanded to a maximum of 384 MB using SODIMMs. Two onboard SODIMM sockets are provided to accommodate the full memory expansion without additional hardware modifications. The internal mass storage on the VXI Pentium PC Controller includes a 4.2 GB Ultra DMA 33 hard drive. A 3.5 inch 1.44 MB floppy drive is also included as secondary internal storage media. The unit includes one internal expansion slot for a full length PCI or 16 bit XT-height ISA card. Two PCMCIA front panel slots accommodate one Type I/II/III card and one Type I/II card simultaneously.
The front panel of the E9850A PC Controller includes a 10 MHz Clock I/O SMB connector for system timing. A Trigger-In SMB connector and a Trigger-Out SMB connector provide external signal input and output control. An Audio Out connector, a keyboard connector and a mouse connector are also accessible on the front panel. These connections support direct peripheral interfacing without the need for any additional adapter hardware. The standard built in interfaces on the controller include a Wide Ultra SCSI-3 port for external mass storage devices. A 2 MB 64 bit accelerated SGRAM SVGA port manages all display output operations on the unit.
