Keysight/Agilent M9022A PXIe System Module
The Keysight/Agilent M9022A PXIe System Interface serves as a user-friendly component within a PXIe environment, providing a reliable way to directly connect a computer inside the chassis to other PXIe modules in that same chassis while also meeting customer requirements. It is intended for use in test automation, lab validation, and modular instrumentation configurations where the application requires minimal latency and maximum bandwidth for data transfer between the computer and PXIe modules. As a Gen 3 Single Port PXIe System Interface, it helps create smaller, faster, and more flexible measurement solutions that need direct communication between the computer and PXIe instrument cards in the chassis.
When installed in a PXIe system slot, the M9022A serves as a bridge between the controller side of the system and the chassis backplane. As part of a pair with a suitable host adapter, it allows for either a four-link or two-link PCIe configuration using x8 or x16 modes based upon your specific system design. For this reason, it will likely be a good solution for those requiring a stable PXIe controller link for their "data-intensive" applications, Automated Test Equipment (ATE) applications, and multi-instrument synchronization applications.
In addition to providing a standard x8 PCIe connector, the M9022A is designed to operate at speeds greater than 6 Gb/sec using a Gen 3-compliant PCIe cable. A well-matched setup should provide up to 8 Gb/sec of bandwidth, which would allow for rapid transfers of large amounts of data between the computer and PXIe instruments. Additionally, the M9022A may be combined with an M9037A PXIe Embedded Controller to enable connectivity between two separate chassis in a multiple chassis configuration.
Best performance is achieved by combining the M9022A with a Gen 3 x8 Host PC Card such as Keysight's M9048B along with Gen 3 x8 PCIe cables such as Keysight's Y1202A or Y1203A. Therefore, it appears to be a suitable selection for PXIe system integration projects, automated test benches, and high-speed modular measurement systems.
