National Instruments 779013-01 C Series Voltage Input Module
The National Instruments 779013-01 (NI-9201) is an eight-channel C series, high-speed voltage input module that provides users with a compact solution for analog data acquisition when multiple inputs require high speeds and channel density. The unit measures a ±10 volt input range at 12 bits with a maximum sampling rate of 500 ks/s on all eight single-ended inputs. The module was designed to be compatible with Compact RIO and Compact DAQ chassis. The unit takes the analog voltage readings from the physical world and turns them into digital data that can then be processed, analyzed, logged, etc. via LabVIEW or other compatible software platforms. The unit also has built-in filtering for frequencies above 100 kHz which reduces noise and aliasing so that accurate measurements can be taken regardless of the environment in terms of electricity.
This 779013-01 is housed within an enclosed, rugged case with a 250 Vrms channel-to-earth-ground isolation barrier. The isolated barrier provides a level of protection to connected systems, protecting them from voltage transients and electrical faults. The additional 100 V over-voltage protection barrier also provides a level of protection to each channel in the event that there are sudden surges in the signal. In addition to the barriers for electrical fault protection, the 779013-01 utilizes a screw terminal front connector to connect the analog input signals. This connection method provides a convenient way for the user to wire directly to the module during initial setup in the field. There are several options available as accessory products that provide strain relief connectors to assist in securing cables for longer-term reliability and stability in industrial settings.
As a widely used component in many test, measurement, and monitoring systems, this 79013-01 analog input module is suitable for use in applications including but not limited to acquiring signals from sensors, monitoring processes, performing structural tests, and measuring voltages in various types of industrial, lab, and research-based applications. Due to its ability to acquire multiple points of voltage at one time, high sampling speeds, and electrical isolation, this 779013-01 would be beneficial when there is a need to ensure the highest level of signal integrity and protect the associated system components from excessive voltage levels. Users who choose to utilize this module in their CompactDAQ or CompactRIO system can expect simple software configurations, scalable channel additions, and reliable analog signal conversions, providing them a solid foundation for creating distributed measurement and automation solutions based on their specific needs and requirements in numerous industrial and scientific data acquisition-related fields.
