The National Instruments 783740-01 (NI-9263) is a 4-channel, simultaneous-updating C Series analog output module designed for automated test, signal generation, and closed-loop control applications within CompactDAQ and CompactRIO systems. Featuring dedicated 16-bit string Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) per channel, the module updates all four channels simultaneously at rates up to 100 kS/s per channel. Built-in power-on and power-down safety features keep all outputs disabled and clamped at 0 V during startup and shutdown, preventing unexpected signal transients to connected hardware.
Each channel delivers a nominal output voltage range of ±10 V (±10.7 V typical, ±11 V maximum) with a ±1 mA drive capability and a low 2 Ω output impedance. The module achieves a fast slew rate of 4 V/µs and maintains full 16-bit monotonicity across its operational range, settling a full-scale step to within 0.1% in 20 µs into a 100 pF load (13 µs for a 1 V step). Channel-to-channel crosstalk is rated at -76 dB, and the outputs remain stable when driving capacitive loads up to 1,500 pF. Thermal stability is characterized by a gain drift of 11 ppm/°C and an offset drift of 110 µV/°C, while output noise measures 600 µVRMS at the maximum 100 kS/s update rate (260 µVRMS idle).
Engineered for industrial protection and efficiency, the NI-9263 features continuous short-circuit protection and overvoltage withstand capability up to ±30 V between any terminal and common. Operating with 250 Vrms channel-to-earth ground isolation, the module draws under 500 mW from the chassis backplane in active mode (dropping to 25 µW max in sleep mode), with maximum thermal dissipation capped at 750 mW at 70 °C. Housed in a standard enclosed C Series form factor, it offers a high-density, reliable voltage generation interface for industrial monitoring and control environments.
