The National Instruments 783739-01 (NI-9215) is a 4-channel, 16-bit simultaneous voltage input module designed for high-accuracy signal acquisition in CompactDAQ and CompactRIO systems. Utilizing an independent Successive Approximation Register (SAR) Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for each channel, the module acquires differential analog signals across a ±10.0 V input range at sampling rates up to 100 kS/s per channel. Acquisition timing scales deterministically with active channel count, requiring 4.4 µs for a single channel, 6 µs for two channels, 8 µs for three channels, and completing a full 4-channel conversion in 10 µs.
Featuring high-impedance inputs rated at 1 GΩ (AI to COM) and a low input bias current of 10 nA, the NI-9215 maintains high signal integrity across diverse signal sources. Dynamic signal performance includes a -3 dB input bandwidth of 420 kHz minimum and a Common-Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) of 73 dB minimum at 60 Hz. The module features integrated screwless spring-terminal wiring connectors accommodating copper wire gauges from 24 AWG to 12 AWG (0.2 mm² to 2.5 mm² with a 10 mm strip length), rated for terminal temperatures up to 90 °C.
Engineered for harsh industrial deployments, the module includes continuous ±30 V channel-to-COM overvoltage protection and 250 Vrms continuous channel-to-earth ground isolation (Measurement Category II, validated by a 2300 Vrms dielectric withstand test). The IP40-enclosed unit weighs 138 g and operates across a wide temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C (10% to 90% non-condensing relative humidity) with power consumption capped at 560 mW active (25 µW max in sleep mode). Built to withstand severe mechanical stress, the NI-9215 is rated for 5 g RMS operating vibration (10 Hz to 500 Hz) and 30 g operating shock (11 ms half-sine pulse).
