National Instruments PXIe-8364 PXI Bus Extension Module
The PXIe-8364 (Part Number: 781819-01, 153100A-01L) is an advanced PXI Bus Extension Module from National Instruments. The NI PXIe-8364 allows the user to create multi-chassis PXI systems. The PXIe-8364 can be used to daisy chain as many as eight PXI systems to the same system computer. This system can be a PXI controller or a PC connected to a device for PXI remote control. The user can extend a PXI system by connecting different devices. Extension devices include RAID Arrays and Software Defined Radio/Reconfigurable Radio Devices.
The NI PXIe-8364 is the first NI module that can create multi-chassis PXI Express systems. The PXIe-8364 is also the first NI PXI Express Remote Control Module. This interface does not require complex custom solutions. The NI PXIe-8364 has simplified interconnectivity and an industry-standard PXI-based architecture. It increases system efficiency and overall system performance. The PXIe-8364 uses MXI-Express x1 links. MXI-Express links connect downstream and upstream PXI Express chassis. All PXI modules in downstream appear as local devices in the upstream chassis. MXI-Express links are software transparent. It means no interconnections require programming. This simplifies multi-chassis setup.
The NI PXIe-8364 uses cabled PCI Express as the underlying communication technology. The PXIe-8364 provides bandwidth up to 250 MBps. The NI PXIe-8364 supports star, line, tree, and daisy-chain configurations. These features simplify the process of creating multi-chassis PXI systems. The PXIe-8364 requires one PXI or PXI hybrid peripheral slot. The National Instruments PXIe-8364 module is well suited for a broad range of applications, such as high-channel-count data acquisition, high-speed automated test applications, and RF and semiconductor test.
