National Instruments 777720-01 Shielded Cable

Part Number 777720-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments SH-50-50 Shielded Cable. This cable is mainly used to connect a NI DAQ or Motion Control device to different accessories and terminal blocks. It is a part of NI’s digital signal conditioning and I/O connectivity product series and is used in special applications where signal deterioration is not allowed. The cable comes in a length of 1 m or 2 m.

The 777720-01 features a 50-pin female connector with a spade terminal grounding strap on one end and a 50-pin female connector with a ring terminal grounding strap on the other end  The connectors are wired pin-to-pin with a 25 twisted pair cable. To set up and use the 777720-01, you would need the following: the installation guide, a compatible NI device, a number 1 Philips-head screwdriver, 3 in. 50-to-50-pin ribbon cable (comes inside the kit), and replacement brackets with spade terminals (NB and AT), that are also included in the kit.

To install the 777720-01, first, you must replace the bracket on the board with the bracket from the SH-50-50 kit. Note that, you must first turn off the computer, remove the board from the computer, and then remove the screws that attach the bracket to the board. One important thing to consider is that the 50-pin connector on your board might have small plastic key inserts for use with military-polarized connectors. Since this is incompatible with the SH50-50 cable, it should be removed. You can gently press a pencil or a pen tip on the release tab in the center of the key insert. After this, you should connect the SH50-50 cable to a 50-pin board

To install the 777720-01 on a 50-pin board, you must first install the board in a slot on your computer. This is followed by connecting the 50-pin connector of the shielded cable to the board I/O connector. Then, you must connect the 50-pin connector with the ring terminal grounding strap to your accessory. You can use an extender for the 3-inch ribbon cable for better flexibility.
