National Instruments 786818-01 Banana Jack Adapter

The 786818-01 from National Instruments (NI) is a Banana Jack Adapter that goes by the model name SA-413B. Designed specifically for connection with NI Source Measure Units, this adapter is compatible with the PXIe-4136, PXIe-4137, PXIe-4138, and PXIe-4139. This optional adapter can be installed to prepare signal connections. The device draws in a maximum power of 10 A, and it has a continuous isolation voltage of 250 V with CAT 1 Max to Ground.

The front panel of the 786818-01 is equipped with 4 nominal banana plug connectors labeled Sense LO, Output LO, Output HI, and Sense HI. The panel is secured in place with jackscrew retaining screws. In order to connect the banana jack adapter to any of the source measure units, first make sure that the chassis had an AC power source connected. This cord protects the chassis from electrical damage by grounding it. Next, be sure to discharge any static electricity by touching any of the metal parts of the chassis, and then attach the 786818-01 to the front panel of the PXIe device. 

The adapter can now be secured to the front panel of the SMU by using a Philips head screwdriver to tighten the mounting screws. After it is properly secured, connect the banana cables to the connectors of the 786818-01. Finally, turn on the power to the chassis.

Physically, the 786818-01 Banana Jack Adapter measures dimensions of 2.52 in. × 3.66 in. × 0.73 in. (6.40 cm × 9.30 cm × 1.85 cm) and it weighs a nominal 4.4 oz (125 g). The temperature range for the operating environment of the device is 0 °C to 55 °C, while the storage environment has a temperature range of -40 °C to 71 °C. The noncondensing relative humidity ranges for both the operating and storage environments are 10% to 90% and 5% to 95% respectively. Designed for indoor use only, the 786818-01 can be operated at altitudes up to 2,000 m and has a pollution degree of 2.
