PXI-4110, 3 Output Channels, Single Quadrant, 11 to 15.5 VDC, PXI Programmable Power Supply
National Instruments PXI-4110 PXI Programmable Power Supply
National Instruments' programmable DC power supply, the PXI-4110 (Part Numbers: 779647-11, 779647-10), is an adaptable instrument for use in manufacturing test and design validation applications. This single-quadrant power supply provides great flexibility with two isolated and one non-isolated supply channel, each able to give up to 1 A. Part number 779647-10 represents the standard version of the PXI-4110, while part number 779647-11 describes the version of the power supply that is equipped with NI APS-4100 Auxiliary Power. Users can precisely control voltage setpoints and current limits while also accessing voltage and current measurement functionalities. Additionally, channels can be combined to produce more voltage or current.
With regard to regulation, the PXI-4110 has outstanding capabilities for both load and line regulation. Line regulation is 0.01% plus 1 mV for each volt of change in auxiliary power input across channels 1 and 2, and 0.01% plus 0.02% of range for current regulation. Depending on the channel, voltage load regulation varies from 0.1% to 0.42% per amp of output load, while current load regulation varies from 0.003% to 0.02% per volt of output variation. The device's transient reaction is quick; it takes 50 μs for it to recover to within 0.1% of the voltage range following a shift in load current from 50% to 100% of the current range.
Along with ensuring security, the PXI-4110 has a number of protection mechanisms. Overvoltage, overcurrent, reverse voltage, and overtemperature protection is provided for the output channels. The protection against overvoltage and overcurrent for the auxiliary power input is identical. An interval of one year is advised for calibrating reasons. Typically, PXI power usage is 1 W for 3.3 V, 6 W for 12 V, 3 W for -12 V, and 10 W for 5 V. These are comparatively low power requirements. 11 VDC to 15.5 VDC, with a maximum of 5 A, is the input range required for an optional auxiliary power source.
With its dimensions of 2.0 cm × 13.0 cm × 21.6 cm and weight of 323 g, the PXI-4110 is physically small, fitting into a 3U, one-slot PXI/cPCI module. The operating environment standards span from -40°C to 71°C with a relative humidity range of 5% to 95%, while the ambient temperature range is 0°C to 55°C with a relative humidity range of 10% to 90%.
