National Instruments PCIe-8382 MXI-Express Device

The PCIe-8382 (779933-01) from National Instruments is a MXI-Express Device designed for PXI Express Interface. Part of the Gen 2 x8 series, this device is able to remotely control devices or systems that are connected over PCI from a PC with a PCIe slot. The PCIe-8382 also makes remote control of a PXI system simple, using a copper wire to connect an x8 PCI Express link to the PXIe-8381 PXI Remote Control Module. This versatile device requires only one PCI Express slot, which should be x8 or wider in width. It is fully compatible with standards of the PCIe specification and has a maximum cable length of 5 m.

The secure connection made between the PCIe-8382 and the PXIe-8381 remote control module is invisible to software and drivers, allowing the user to run linked devices to industry-standard PCs and servers without the hassle of additional programming. The power requirements of the PCIe-8382 differ depending on the power rail used. The maximum current for a +3.3 V power rail is 0 mA, while the maximum current for a +3.3 VAux power rail reaches 30 mA. The highest voltage power rail available, +12 V, has a maximum current of 1 mA.

Designed for indoor use and rated for a pollution degree of 2, the dimensions of the PCIe-8382 measure 6.89 × 12.70 cm (2.71 × 5 in), and it has a weight of 0.06 kg (0.14 lb). The device can be operated in altitudes up to 2,000m and in a temperature range of 0 to 55 °C. During operation, it has a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%. For storage, the PCIe-8382 can be stored within an even broader temperature range of –20 to 70 °C. The relative humidity range when in storage is also non-condensing and spans from 5 to 95%.
