The NI PXIe-6259 (Part Number: 779778-01) is an M Series Module with 32 analog inputs, 48 digital I/O lines, 4 analog outputs, 1.25 MS/s maximum sample rate, and 2.86 MS/s maximum update rate. This module supports DC input and output coupling. The National Instruments PXIe-6259 module can be calibrated to reduce the analog input and analog output errors that are a result of time and temperature drift at run time. External circuitry is not required because an internal reference guarantees preciseness and steadiness, even during time and temperature alterations. Although the earliest version of NI-DAQmx that can be used with the PXIe 6259 is NI-DAQmx 8.3, National Instruments does suggest utilizing the newest version of NI-DAQmx supported for the user’s OS.

The NI PXIe-6259 Multifunction I/O Module supports several analog input ground-reference settings, including: Non-referenced single-ended mode, Referenced single-ended mode, and Differential mode. In Non-referenced single-ended mode, the module measures the voltage of an analog input relative to one of the AI SENSE or AI SENSE 2 inputs. In Referenced single-ended mode, the PXIe-6259 measures the voltage of an analog input signal relative to AI GND. Finally, in Differential mode, the module measures the difference in voltage between to analog input signals. The analog input ground-reference setting designates how the user should link the analog input signals to the PXIe 6259. Also, the user should remember that ground-reference settings are programmed for each channel, so there could be eight single-ended channels and four differentially-configured channels.

PXIe-6259 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
