National Instruments PCI-6033E Multifunction DAQ

National Instruments' PCI-6033E (Part number: 777516-01) is a data acquisition (DAQ) device intended for a variety of industrial automation uses. It is appropriate for activities in research, design verification/test, production test, and laboratory automation since it has two 24-bit counters, digital I/O, and analog input.

With 64 single-ended or 32 differential channels (software-selectable per channel), the PCI-6033E provides flexibility for various measurement setups. Its 16-bit resolution and 100 kS/s maximum sampling rate per channel are made possible by its successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which guarantees accurate conversion.

Each input on the device can withstand voltages up to ±11 V from ground thanks to input coupling that is set up for DC signals. With tolerances of ±25 V when powered on and ±15 V when powered off, robust overvoltage protection defends against any harm.

A FIFO buffer with capacities ranging from 512 to 1,024 samples is included in the PCI-6033E for data handling. Three DMA channels are used to expedite data transfers and support interrupts, programmable I/O, and direct memory access. For effective data transport, DMA modes include scatter-gather.

Transfer characteristics are highly accurate, with differential nonlinearity (DNL) normally within ±0.5 LSB and relative accuracy typically within ±0.75 LSB. The PCI-6033E ensures that there are no missing codes, providing trustworthy data capture in a range of scenarios.

When powered on, the amplifier has a high input impedance (100 GΩ in parallel with 100 pF), which minimizes signal distortion. With overload protection, the input impedance maintains a reasonable 820 Ω when the device is turned off. Measurement precision is improved by offset currents and low input bias.

Crosstalk between channels is minimal, with attenuation levels of –75 dB for adjacent channels and –90 dB for all others across the DC to 100 kHz frequency range.

The PCI-6033E maintains maximum working voltages of 11 V channel-to-earth and 11 V channel-to-channel, suitable for Installation Category I environments. Storage temperatures vary from –20 to 70 °C, whereas operating temperatures are between 0 and 50 °C. For PCI and PXI devices, relative humidity tolerances are defined between 10 and 90.
