National Instruments PXIe-5653 LO Module

The PXIe-5653 is a LO Module from National Instruments. This module is utilized as an integral part of the PXIe-5665 Vector Signal Analyzer. This module is installed on the immediate right side of the NI-5603 RF Downconverter. In the PXIe-5665, the 100 MHz onboard reference clock of the PXIe-5653 is daisy chained to its slave digitizer modules. The LO (1, 2, 3) connectors provided on this module are connected to the associated (LO 1/2/3 IN) connectors provided on the front panel of the National Instruments NI-5603. It has a LO1 nominal frequency range of 3.2 GHz to 8.3 GHz, a LO2 nominal frequency of 4.0 GHz, and a LO3 nominal frequency of 800 MHz. The 100 MHz REF OUT connector provide on this module is connected on the CLK IN (Clock In) connector of the NI-5622 IF Digitizer.

This LO Module is used in various other National Instruments VSA models. The 10 MHz REF OUT connector of this module is connected to the REF IN connector of the PXIe-5694. In other words, the internal clock of the NI PXIe 5653 is used as the chassis reference input. The PXIe-5653 is a 3U PXI Express module. For its deployment, you must have 2 slots available in the chassis.

The NI PXIe 5653 is considered a powerful LO module for vector signal analyzers and widely used in a variety of test and measurement setups. This module takes around 30 minutes to warm up for use, and should be externally calibrated at least once every 2 years. The device has a power requirement of 3.63 W (1.10 A) at +3.3 VDC, and 48 W at +12 VDC. The NI device weighs 37.8 oz, and measures 8.5 x 1.6 x 5.1 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of -41 °C to 71 °C, an operating and non-operating random vibration of 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–all at a frequency of 5 Hz to 500 Hz.

PXIe-5653 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the LO module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
