National Instruments 779079-04 2.7 GHz RF Vector Signal Generator
The NI 779079-04 PXI Vector Signal Generator was designed for use within laboratories and manufacturing settings where high-end RF testing and measurements are required. This part is a version of the PXI-5671 that includes the most memory (512MB) as compared to all other models and utilizes on-board memory to store and generate a wide variety of complex modulated signals. Additionally, this unit combines the functionality of two separate PXI modules: the PXI-5441 16-bit Arbitrary Waveform Generator with Digital Up Conversion and the PXI-5610 2.7 GHz RF Super Heterodyne Up Converter. As such, the RF Vector Signal Generator offers users a solution to provide a frequency range of 250 kHz to 2.7 GHz with an amplitude range of -145 dBm to +10 dBm.
The NI 779079-04 provides signal quality required for applications such as wireless communication system development and/or testing; radar system design and/or development; and aerospace/defense applications. It also provides sufficient dynamic range to maintain signal integrity when creating or modifying complex digitally modulated waveforms including AM, FM, PM, ASK, FSK, PSK, QPSK, and QAM. Additionally, it provides a 10 MHz oven-controlled crystal oscillator time base that offers ±20 ppb frequency stability and ±50 ppb frequency accuracy. The NI-RFSG driver controls both modules within the NI 779079-04 and therefore enables users to integrate this product into their own automated test systems using programming languages such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and C.
The NI 779079-04 has a three-slot 3U CompactPCI form factor enabling it to fit within many types of lab and production equipment enclosures. The part supports quadrature digital upconversion which reduces the amount of time needed to transfer waveforms down to the module(s), thereby increasing the throughput of testing. Additionally, the onboard memory of the generator will support waveform durations of up to 1.28 second allowing testers to simulate realistic transmission conditions. The 779079-04 is well-suited for use in validating consumer electronic products, developing and/or testing software defined radios, and developing and/or testing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags.
