National Instruments PXIe-5673E PXIe Vector Signal Generator
The PXIe-5673E (Part Numbers: 781262-01, 781263-01, 781262-02, 781263-02, 781263-03, 781340-02, 781340-03, 781340-04) is a Vector Signal Generator from National Instruments. This model is not a singular device, but instead refers to the combination of an IQ modulator (the PXIe-5611), a Waveform Generator (the PXIe-5450 or 5451), and a LO source (the PXIe-5650 or 5651/5652). As a combined unit, the PXIe-5673E offers extensive bandwidth for frequency measurements in ranges from 50 MHz to 6.6 GHz. The generator also boasts a memory capacity of 512 MB per channel, providing plenty of space for test and measurement applications of all sizes.
The front panel of the NI PXIe-5673E is equipped with a selection of SMA female connector types across all of the modules, as well as two SMB connectors that are found only on the AWG module. To safeguard against potential damage, the IQ modulator of the PXIe-5673E features a maximum overload protection of 1 W for a maximum RF power greater than or equal to 4 GHz. For RF power less than 4 GHz, this overload protection is doubled to 2 W. The maximum overload protection available for the DC input of the NI PXIe-5673E is ±5 VDC.
The NI PXIe-5673E utilizes the NI-RFSG Instrument driver which is compatible with application development environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Microsoft Visual C/C++. The device hardware can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool, and it is recommended to calibrate the generator once a year. A modulation kit included with the NI PXIe-5673E Vector Signal Generator enables users to generate different signal types. The device is capable of generating CPM, ASK, FSK, and many other arbitrary waveforms.
When all the modules are combined, the NI PXIe-5673E weighs a total of 1,458 g (52 oz). Physically, the IQ modulator and the LO source module are designed as One Slot 3U PXIe modules, while the waveform generator is built as a Two Slot 3U PXIe module. The vector signal generator has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and a storage temperature range of -40 °C to 71 °C.
