National Instruments 776570-04 4-Slot Signal Conditioning Chassis
The NI 776570-04 is an extremely rugged, very low noise, four-slot AC chassis made specifically to support the housing, powering, and controlling of SCXI signal conditioning modules inside a data acquisition system. As one of the many part numbers for the SCXI-1000, the 776570-04 was created to offer a completely shielded and air-cooled environment for up to four SCXI modules. This ensures the protection of both signal quality and temperature stability when measuring sensitive analog values. The chassis has complete control over all timing, triggering, and signal routing between the installed modules and the host data acquisition device. Therefore, the NI 776570-04 is a fundamental component in developing a wide variety of flexible and scalable measurement systems.
A key element of the NI 776570-04 is the SCXIbus, which is a guarded analog and digital backplane that automatically connects every module that is placed into the slots of the chassis. The SCXIbus also acts as a communication channel for routing analog signals, sending data, programming modules, and transmitting timing signals. The signal conditioning chassis contains specific control circuitry that controls the routing of all signals on the SCXI bus and coordinates timing among all modules and the data acquisition device to allow for high-speed multiplexing. As such, the 776570-04 can collect data from several input channels simultaneously at speeds up to 333 kS/s per DAQ device.
With its seven available AC power configurations, the 776570-04 provides significant flexibility by allowing it to operate at a range of AC line voltages, including 100, 120, 220, and 240 VAC. In addition, the chassis may be easily reconfigured for operation in different countries. If additional channels are required, up to eight chassis may be cascaded together using a single multifunction DAQ device. This will provide a means to implement large channel count applications while still maintaining high-speed acquisition capabilities. Regardless of whether it is used as a standalone unit or as part of a multi-chassis configuration, the NI 776570-04 operates in conjunction with either an E Series, M Series, or USB multifunction DAQ device. All low-level programming is performed by either the NI-DAQ or NI-SWITCH driver software packages to maintain consistency with standard DAQ function calls.
