National Instruments 779536-01 PXI Serial Interface Module

Part number 779536-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments PXI-8430/8 Serial Interface Module. The module works on the RS-232 serial standard and features 8 non-isolated ports. Likewise, it supports baud rates from 2 baud up to its maximum rate of 1000 kbaud. Similarly, the FIFO buffer present in the module is 128 bytes in size. Furthermore, due to the availability of a DMA module, the device can achieve large throughput with minimum CPU utilization.   

The 779536-01 measures 100 × 160 mm in physical dimensions and weighs 135 g. It consists of a 68-position SCSI connector for I/O purposes and also comes with a 68-pin SCSI to eight DB-9 male connector adapter cable. The power requirement from the PXI channel at +5 VDC is typically 1A, which can reach up to a maximum of 1.5 A. 

The 779536-01, like the other NI serial interface modules, requires the NI serial driver. The serial driver provides necessary software like the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), which is used for configuration and testing. The recommended temperature range for the operation of the 779536-01 is 0 °C to 55 °C at a relative humidity of up to 10% to 90% RH. Likewise, the device is only meant to be used within a maximum altitude of 2000m. On the other hand, it can be stored at -20 to 70 °C at a relative humidity of  5% to 95% RH. Furthermore, since the 779536-01 works with the RS-232 serial protocol, the maximum cable length should be 2500 pF equivalent. Moreover, the data line ESD protection according to the human body model is ±15 kV.
