The NI-FBUS Configurator serves the purpose of configuration and setting for FOUNDATION Fieldbus through dynamic user-interface tools. The monitoring, debugging, troubleshooting, and analysis of FOUNDATION Fieldbus data is carried out by the NI-FBUS Monitor application.

The National Instruments USB-8486 Fieldbus Interface Device is a plug-and-play device that is available with a single port supporting USB 2.0 connectivity. The maximum baud rate of the USB-8486 device is 31.25 kb/s. The NI USB-8486 features a standard H1 interface for Fieldbus which is provided with a 9-pin male D-SUB connector. The USB-8486 Fieldbus Interface Device requires up to 300 mA current in working mode, while only 2.5 mA current is drawn in suspended mode.
