Originally found under the manufacturer Agilent, it captures real-time signal behavior for control systems, machine monitoring, and automated validation setups. The U2542A uses a USB modular platform for compact integration with laboratory and production systems. Its modular format reduces rack space while supporting direct connection to automated test software environments.
The Keysight U2542A provides simultaneous acquisition, with timing accuracy critical across related channels. This function helps engineers compare vibration, voltage, current, and sensor signals during the same measurement event. The model's 500 kSa/s sampling rate supports medium-speed industrial measurements with stable timing performance. It is suitable for machine diagnostics, actuator testing, process monitoring# and functional verification of electronic subsystems. The module uses a 68-pin female VHDCI type I/O connector for external signal wiring. This connector format supports dense signal routing where multiple channels must connect through a compact interface. The USB Modular Simultaneous Data Acquisition includes a general-purpose digital timer and counter for automation tasks. It provides two independent up-and-down counters with TTL compatibility for digital event tracking.
The timer and counter section supports a maximum count of 2³¹ minus 1 bits. It uses either an internal or external clock source, depending on system requirements. The available base clock is 48 MHz for internal timing reference functions. The maximum clock source frequency is 12 MHz for compatible external clock applications. The input frequency range of the Keysight U2542A is 0.1 Hz to 6 MHz at a 50 percent duty cycle. The pulse width measurement ranges from 0.167 microseconds to 178.956 seconds plus or minus 0.0833 microseconds. The analog trigger function allows controlled acquisition from defined signal conditions. The trigger sources include all analog input channels and the external analog trigger input. The trigger level supports plus or minus full scale for internal trigger operation. External trigger operation supports plus-or-minus 10 V for defined acquisition control.
