Keysight/Agilent E1364A 16-Channel Form C VXI Switch
The Keysight E1364A 16 Channel Form C Switch uses latching armature relays designed to carry up to 1 Amp of current on each channel reliably. It serves switching, scanning, control, and digital output applications within VXI-based test and automation systems. Its compact single-slot footprint enables seamless installation into standard VXI mainframe chassis configurations.
The E1364A handles a maximum of 250 V DC and 250 V AC rms at each switch terminal. The AC peak rating reaches 354 V with a maximum noninductive current capacity of 1 A per switch. The per-switch power handling of the model is rated at 40 W DC and 40 VA AC per the product specification. The module’s maximum power is 320 W DC and 320 VA AC at full channel load.
The VXI Form C Switch exhibits a low maximum thermal offset of just 7 µV in DC operation. The initial closed channel resistance is below 1.5 Ω typical and rises to 3.5 Ω by the end of life. The insulation resistance between any two points exceeds 107 Ω at operating conditions up to 40°C and 95% RH. This value improves to exceed 108 Ω under conditions of 25°C and 40% relative humidity.
The relay life under no load conditions for the switch exceeds 106 operations per contact. At rated load, the relay life expectancy remains above 105 operations, which ensures long-term service reliability. The time required to close or open any channel through register programming is 10.7 milliseconds. This makes the model suitable for high-throughput scanning and sequential channel control operations.
The latching relays in the E1364A retain their switch positions without change when module power is removed. This power-down behavior ensures all active signal paths remain in their last programmed state. Upon power up, the model returns all relay contacts to the open state as a defined safe default. This behavior provides system safety and consistent starting conditions across all test cycles.
