National Instruments 777318-600 Analog Input/Output Module
The NI 777318-600 is a cFP-AIO-600 combined analog input/output module used in both Compact FieldPoint and FieldPoint distributed control systems. This NI model uses the model designation for a four-channel analog input, four-channel analog output unit intended to manage two types of field components (sensors & actuators) using one small space. The 777318-600 has 12 bits of resolution across each of the analog channels it contains and can update all channels at a maximum of 1700 Hz per second; thus, it is suitable for use in lower channel count applications, including those that need rapid analog feedback such as PID control. The inputs are capable of receiving voltage inputs up to ±30V, and the input modules can receive either 0 to 20mA or 4 to 20mA current loop inputs. The output modules can produce a 0 to 10V signal or 0 to 20/4 to 20 mA. A signal to operate the valve/gauge/etc. associated with each sensor. The range for each channel is user-definable via software, which means an engineer can make sure the input is set correctly to accommodate specific sensor requirements without changing any wires in the field.
The 777318-600 also provides internal scaling and linearization of analog signals so that the software controlling the system will see the actual value in engineering units rather than just raw digital values. There is onboard diagnostic functionality that checks for problems such as a broken wire in a current loop, and if a problem is detected, a red LED light on each current output terminal indicates the fault condition. Optical bank isolation rated at 2300VRMS protects the module from high-voltage transients but does not isolate individual channels. Hot-swappable capability with automatic configuration enables replacement of or addition to a running system with minimal downtime due to the reduced amount of manual intervention required to get back online. The 777318-600 requires a 5 to 30 VDC power source from outside itself and can operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C, making it suitable for extreme industrial environments.
Each end of the NI 777318-600 includes several connectors for connecting to field devices. These include voltage and current input terminals, current output terminals, common terminals for each type of signal, and power supply terminals for providing power to field-connected devices. This connection method makes this product well-suited for industrial measurement and/or control within FieldPoint distributed I/O systems.
