NI cDAQ-9170 CompactDAQ Chassis
The NI cDAQ-9170 (Part Number: 789116-01) is a one-slot bus-powered CompactDAQ chassis for portable sensor and electrical measurement systems. The cDAQ chassis connects C Series I/O modules to a host via USB Type-C to provide plug-and-play data acquisition with precise control of timing and synchronization of data transfer. The chassis accepts analog input, analog output, digital I/O, and counter/timer modules so the engineer may build mixed-signal measurement systems in a single box.
Multiple timing engines and four 32-bit general-purpose counters allow the cDAQ-9170 to perform activities that have concurrent hardware-timed characteristics, such as independent analog sampling rates and simultaneous counter tasks. Onboard FIFO buffers and waveform regeneration memory support continuous streaming and sustained analog output while timing resolution measured in nanoseconds is provided for accurate timestamps for phase, interval, and transient measurements. Timing accuracy is specified with respect to sample rates for repeatable synchronization across modules.
The bus-powered design cuts down on cabling and simplifies deployments in field and bench applications where external power is inconvenient. Mechanical features such as a secured USB connector and dedicated grounding of the chassis improve electrical resilience and integrity of connection, during transport and onsite use. The engineer uses the cDAQ-9170 with NI software and standard APIs to simplify module configuration, calibration, deterministic acquisition and automated data logging in test sequences.
Common applications are environmental monitoring, vibration and acoustics exams, transient event capture, functional automated test and portable validation tasks that require mixed analog and digital measurements with precise timing. The cDAQ-9170 provides a small footprint and module I/O flexibility, making it a practical DAQ chassis for engineers and integrators who need synchronized measurements, USB Type-C reliability and functional integration into existing NI measurement workflows. The cDAQ-9170 is compatible with the C Series module family, and, because of equation of mixed-signal, low-latency acquisition, is excellent for laptop-based measurement, remote data logging and for prototyping purposes of sensing systems.
