National Instruments PCI-6514 Digital I/O Device

Featured with 8 banks of isolated channels, the PCI-6514 (Part Number: 778836-01, 778939-01) is a 32 Sink/Source Inputs & output, 64 Channel, ±30 VDC, Bank-Isolated Digital I/O Device from National Instruments. The NI PCI-6514 offers programmable power-up states. Thus users can configure the initial output states using a software program to guarantee safe operations, especially when linked to critical industrial actuators. In case of any computer or application fault, this module utilizes digital I/O watchdogs to switch operations to a configurable safe output state. Thus, the PCI-6514 ensures detection and automated safe recovery from fault conditions. Part number 778939-01 is for the PCI-6514 bundle.

To provide access to the digital I/O, this device comes equipped with a 100-pin high-density SCSI connector. With this model, the user can choose the digital input channels allowed to clear across a digital filter existing after the photocouplers. In addition, the user can control the filter`s timing interval. The integrated filter of the PCI-6514 uses two clocks: the filter clock and the sample clock. The filter clock is formulated by a counter, whereas the sample clock has a fixed, 100 ns period. The device has a power requirement of 300 mA at +3.3 VDC, and 250 mA at +5 VDC. It is equipped with a 100-pin keyed female SCSI connector.

Upon initialization, this module keeps the output derives disabled. Each of the output lines are user-configurable for the on or off states. The user can additionally program the PCI-6514 to initiate an interrupt when a deviation occurs on any input line since this DIO device can invigilate changes on all input lines or selected input lines. The NI PCI-6514 device comes equipped with programmable filters as well. These input filters restrict spikes/glitches and offer debouncing for digital relays/switches through a software-selectable digital filter. The PCI-6514 is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software. The device hardware can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.

The NI device weighs 2.5 oz, and measures 5.54 x 4.47 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C.
