National Instruments 777662-02 LVDS/TTL Digital Camera Image Acquisition
The National Instruments 777662-02 is a PCI-1424 digital camera image acquisition card that will work with either LVDS cameras or TTL cameras. The 32-bit parallel frame grabber has the ability to capture high-resolution color and grayscale images at rates that allow for the acquisition of up to four channels of 8-bit data, as well as one channel of 24-bit or 32-bit data. This PCI-1424 board has a maximum of a 50 MHz pixel clock and can acquire at a rate of 200 MB/sec., which enables it to maintain a continuous flow of real-time data. It can handle all resolutions in the range of 8 to 32 bits for both grayscale and color. There is also additional memory (expandable from 16 Mb to 80 Mb) built into the 777662-02 that stores captured frames, allowing for unbroken transmission of acquired data to the host PC, thus eliminating lost data due to high-speed acquisition.
The PCI-1424 part number 777662-02 has integrated onboard image processing capabilities that are designed to enhance its overall performance and eliminate use of PCI bus bandwidth. It comes equipped with four 8-bit or two 16-bit look-up tables that can be used for real-time pixel remapping and a programmable region of interest (ROI) that allows you to discard unwanted pixels, thereby reducing the amount of data being transferred. The 777662-02 has four bidirectional TTL digital I/O ports that provide the capability to trigger externally. Additionally, there is an RS232 port available to directly control your camera. All interfaces are available through a single 100-pin SCSI connector. The 777662-02 also produces a variety of different frequency clocks that can be used to drive an external camera clock. These clocks have frequencies ranging from 500 kHz to 50 MHz.
LVDS/TTL signaling is utilized on this product because of several advantages over RS-422. In addition to requiring less power, LVDS/TTL signaling reduces noise and increases cable length reliability compared to RS-422. Therefore, the LVDS/TTL signaling utilized on this product makes it ideal for applications involving complex automation. NI-Vision Acquisition software and NI-IMAQ drivers come standard with this product. The RTSI bus on the 777662-02 enables synchronization with other NI products such as data acquisition and motion control cards. As such, multi-device automated testing and inspection systems utilizing deterministic timing can be created using this product.
