Featured with FIFO buffers to decouple PCI Express Transfers from GPIB Transfers and PCIe 1.0a compatibility, the National Instruments PCIe-GPIB/LP (Part number: 780575-01) is a GPIB Instrument Control Device for PCI Express. The NI TNT ASIC incorporated in this model makes the NI PCIe GPIB/LP the most efficient IEEE 488.2 interface available on the market. The NI TNT ASIC performs various basis IEEE 488 listen, talk, and control functions. This device comes with an ability to use HS488 as well. The HS488 is a high-speed GPIB protocol that increases the maximum data transfer capability. Moreover, this model has other key components, including a PCI Express Bridge (TI XI02000a). The device has a typical power requirement of 320 mA, and a maximum power requirement of 500 mA at 3.3 V.
The TI XI02000a comes with an x1 PCIe interface that can operate in full compliance with the PCIe base specs Rev 1.0a. With this model, the user can achieve up to 1.5 MB/s in IEEE 488 interlocked handshake mode and 7.9 MB per second in HS488 handshake mode. This model comes equipped with a standard 24-pin (female) IEEE connector and standard x1 PCIe connector. The NI PCIe GPIB/LP GPIB Instrument Control Device is offered with NI-488.2 driver software. This device is fully compatible with, and can be programmed using a variety of leading application development environments or software packages such as: LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, LabWindows/CVI, etc.
This GPIB Instrument Control Device can be operated in various environments. This device only requires 1.1 watts of power in typical conditions (0 to 55 degrees C), at +3.3 VDC. This model comes in a PCIe form factor and measures 9.8 by 6.9 cm (3.8 x 2.7 in.) in physical dimensions. The NI device has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of 0 °C to 55 °C and -20 °C to 70 °C respectively, non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% to 90% RH and 5% to 95% RH respectively.
